    The ABB RVT power factor controller is a control unit for automatic switching of capacitor banks (or reactors), designed for reactive power compensation in on-site systems with inductive or capacitive loads. The RVT6 model enables precise power factor compensation for both balanced and unbalanced three-phase loads.
    By automatically controlling the connection and disconnection of capacitors, the controller stabilizes the system power factor to reach the target cos φ value set by users.

    • Power Failure Protection: All capacitors will be automatically disconnected once power failure lasts more than 20 milliseconds.
    • Expandable Communication: Compatible with Modbus RS485, USB 2.0, Ethernet TCP/IP and CAN 2.0 protocols.
    • Multi-point Temperature Measurement: Supports up to 8 temperature probes with daisy-chain connection.

    4.1 Appearance Structure

    Adopts embedded installation design. The front panel is equipped with a touch screen and function mode buttons, while the rear panel is integrated with a complete terminal block for wiring.

    The RVT6 controller has three output statuses only: cut-off lock, switch-on lock and enable.

    6. Installation and Maintenance Instructions

    6.1 Installation Steps

    1. Safety Preparation: All operations must be performed by qualified electricians with power completely cut off.
    2. Cutout Preparation: Reserve a panel cutout of 138 x 138 mm for installation.
    3. Fixation: Vertically slide the controller into the cabinet cutout and fasten it with mounting brackets.
    4. Wiring Requirements: Adopt 2.5 mm² single-core wires for wiring; install overcurrent protection (6A fuse recommended) at the power input terminal; remove the short-circuit piece of CT secondary winding after wiring is completed.
    5. Startup Configuration: Support one-click automatic commissioning (quick setup) and manual commissioning wizard for parameter configuration.

    6.2 Maintenance Requirements

    • Cleaning: Wipe the equipment with a dry cloth only. Do not use solvents, alcohol or other corrosive liquids for cleaning.
    • Regular Inspection: Periodically check the stability of parameter settings and the firmness of wiring connections.
    • Protection Reset: After protective actions (undervoltage, over temperature, etc.), restore the equipment operation in accordance with the specified delay time.
    • Environmental Disposal: Compliant with WEEE and RoHS directives. The device shall be recycled and disposed of separately as electronic waste.
