1. Product Features
1.1 Core Functional Characteristics
- Enables configuration and calibration of smart HART transmitters with support for remote and local on-site operations.
- Access to the transmitter database and modification operations are password-protected to ensure data security.
- Equipped with built-in permanent memory, capable of storing up to 40 sets of configuration parameters.
- Supports universal and general practice HART commands, and can configure and manage all HART-compatible smart devices, including non-ABB instruments.
- Software installation and upgrade can be completed via PC software through an RS232 serial communication cable.
- The program library of ABB instrument devices can be directly transmitted from a personal computer to the 691HT memory configurator.
1.2 Display Content
The device can read and display comprehensive transmitter information, classified into read-only and read-write data as follows:
1.2.1 Read-only Information
Diagnostic information, transmitter type and model, descriptors and messages, transmitter range, static pressure (differential pressure transmitters only), transmitter temperature, and write function disable status.
1.2.2 Read-write Information
Process variables in engineering units, zero and range settings, output signal calibration (% or mA), linear/square root output modes, damping time, digital trim and output trim parameters, tag names, loop test functions, and password security settings.

- Signal Transmission: Digital signals are superimposed on the transmitter power/signal lines for transmission, with zero average energy injected into the loop.

5. Installation and Operation
5.1 Connection Requirements
- A minimum load resistance of 250Ω must be installed in the current loop to ensure stable communication.
- Install a minimum 250Ω load resistance between the power supply and the connection point of the handheld terminal.
- The communication cable with a wire gauge of 0.75-1.25mm² supports a maximum transmission distance of 1km.
- Keep a spacing of more than 15cm between the communication cable and power line, and avoid parallel wiring to prevent signal interference.
5.2 Basic Operation Steps
- Confirm that the current loop is equipped with a load resistance of no less than 250Ω.
- Connect the 691HT communication cable to the transmitter signal loop.
- Turn on the device power supply and wait for the system to complete startup.
- Select the corresponding device model and configure relevant parameter items.
- Perform targeted configuration, calibration or fault diagnosis operations as required.
- Save the completed configuration parameters and disconnect the device connection safely.
