6. Installation and Maintenance

Installation

1. Insert the module into the cabinet rail that complies with the IEC 60204‑1 standard.
2. Fix the protective cover with screws to ensure sealing.
3. Connect to the EtherCAT master using an RJ45 cable. It is recommended to use shielded twisted-pair cables and keep the cable length ≤ 100 m.
4. Connect the digital input/output terminals as required, ensuring the voltage level matches.

Commissioning

1. Add the module node in B&R Automation Studio, and perform I/O mapping after automatic identification.
2. Use diagnostic tools to check the communication status, input/output levels, and error codes.

Maintenance

1. Regularly check if the sealing ring of the protective cover is aged, and replace it if necessary.
2. Clean the dust on the module surface and keep the heat sink well-ventilated.
3. Regularly read the self-test log through software to detect potential faults in advance.
4. In case of a fault, the module can be pulled out for hot-swappable replacement after the system is shut down, minimizing downtime.
