Built for the GE Fanuc Series 90-30 platform, IC693CPU350-DJ functions as the central processing unit of a modular PLC control system. The CPU350 family combines a 25 MHz 80386EX processor with 32 KB of user program memory and a broad range of PLC memory references.
The module is a practical choice for maintaining existing Series 90-30 installations where replacement of the original processor is required.
The CPU350 architecture supports 2,048 discrete input points and 2,048 discrete output points, together with 9,999 words of register memory. It also provides 1,280 bits of discrete global memory and 4,096 internal coils.
The controller supports shift registers, timers and counters, periodic subroutines, and battery-backed clock functionality. Its serial interface supports SNP/SNP-X slave protocols, while additional communication capabilities can be added through compatible modules.
Rather than operating as an independent controller, the CPU is installed in the Series 90-30 backplane and works with power supplies, I/O modules, communication modules, and other system components.
The single-slot design helps keep the controller integrated within the modular PLC architecture. Optional communication modules can extend the system for different industrial networking requirements.
The processor can support a wide range of legacy automation tasks, including discrete machine control, production equipment, material handling, and process-related applications.
For facilities operating established Series 90-30 systems, maintaining a compatible processor can reduce the need for immediate migration to a completely different PLC platform.
When replacing an existing unit, technicians should verify the complete part number rather than selecting a CPU350 solely by its family name. The -DJ revision should be matched with the installed system requirements.
Check the PLC configuration, firmware, programming software, communication modules, and application program before commissioning. GE documentation also records revision-specific firmware and software considerations for the CPU350 family.
Use ESD protection when handling the module and avoid inserting or removing it while the system is powered unless the specific installation documentation explicitly permits such operation. Inspect the backplane connection for contamination or damage, and verify the status indicators after startup.
For long-term spare storage, keep the CPU in anti-static packaging and a clean, dry environment. This helps protect the electronics and connector surfaces until the module is needed for service.
