1. Product Overview
ABB SACO 16D3-AA-RS is a 16-channel digital alarm display unit, which belongs to the ABB SPACOM power distribution automation product series. Designed specifically for the industrial automation field, this alarm unit can perform real-time monitoring and alarming to ensure the safety and stable operation of the system in case of process abnormalities. The model suffix “AA” indicates that the auxiliary voltage range is 80…265 V ac/dc.

3. Product Features
- Flexible and Customizable: The 16-channel alarm device can be activated via normally open or normally closed contacts.

4. Structure and Composition
SACO 16D3 is composed of the following standardized 100mm×160mm Euro-card plug-in modules:

System Architecture: The power supply module converts the auxiliary voltage into 48V DC for internal use; 16 alarm input channels are processed by SWIM 2A1; the core processing unit SWPM 3A1 performs signal analysis and logical judgment; SWOM 16A1 provides relay outputs; the connection module SWCM 11A1 is responsible for all external wiring.

6. Installation and Maintenance
6.1 Installation Requirements
- Installation Method: Embedded panel installation.
- Power Connection: Equipped with two identical power input terminals, but usually only one input is used; if dual power supplies are used, electrical isolation between the power supplies must be ensured.
- Grounding Requirements: The protective grounding terminal needs to be connected.
- Environmental Conditions: Avoid high temperature, high humidity, and strong electromagnetic interference environments.

6.3 Maintenance Points
- Relay Output Mode Switching: To switch between “Signal Follower” and “Group Alarm” modes, remove the front panel, pull out the alarm module SWPM 3A1, and insert the flat cable into the corresponding interface (SIGNAL FOLLOWER or GROUP ALARM).
- Parameter Storage: Parameters are stored in non-volatile EEPROM, which can be modified via front panel buttons, and access rights can be protected by jumpers on the circuit board.
- Maintenance Cycle: It is recommended to regularly check the tightness of wiring and the cleanliness of terminals.
- Troubleshooting: Use the front panel indicator lights and serial interface to read system status and event records.
