Typical Application Areas
- Industrial automation control stations, PLC/DCS front-end processors
- Data acquisition and monitoring systems (SCADA)
- Embedded graphical HMI (industrial displays)
- Real-time signal processing and test instruments
- Scientific research and military platforms requiring dual VMEbus and PC/AT compatibility
Installation and Maintenance Guidelines
Chassis Preparation
Ensure the VME chassis provides a single 6U double-height slot with no internal obstacles.
Jumper Configuration
All jumpers are factory-set to position A. Modify 10 jumpers according to the required memory capacity, IDE master/slave settings, watchdog, and other functions as specified in the jumper table.
Module Insertion
Align the module’s front side (with P1 connector facing up) with the slot rails. Gently push until the P1 and P2 connectors are fully seated. Avoid forced insertion to prevent pin bending.
Securing Screws
Fasten the module with chassis screws at the top and bottom to prevent vibration-induced detachment.
Peripheral Connection
Connect VGA, keyboard, mouse, serial ports, parallel port, IDE hard disk, floppy disk, and other interfaces in sequence. For PC/104 expansion modules, insert them before powering on.
Power-On Check
After powering on, observe the front-panel indicators. Enter the BIOS setup to verify memory capacity, VMEbus parameters, watchdog timer, and other settings meet requirements.
System Diagnostics
The BIOS includes a self-test function to check memory, serial ports, parallel port, VMEbus interrupts, etc. Run a full self-test before initial use.
Daily Maintenance
Regularly inspect slots and connectors for dust and oxidation. Power off before replacing hard disks or floppy disks. To upgrade the BIOS, write new firmware using an EPROM programmer and enable it in the BIOS menu.
