The XVME‑690 is a single-slot VMEbus processor module launched by Xycom (also known as Xembedded). It features an Intel® Pentium® M (1.8 GHz) or Celeron® M (1.5 GHz) CPU, combining the high reliability of VMEbus with a PC-compatible software ecosystem. It is suitable for industrial systems requiring real-time control, data acquisition, and high-speed communication.

Installation and Maintenance Guidelines
Installation
Insert the XVME-690 into a single slot of a 6U VME-64 or VME-64x chassis, ensuring alignment between the backplane and the card’s P2/P0 interfaces. Power on after connecting the power supply, cooling fans, and network cables.
Cooling
Maintain internal chassis airflow ≥ 300 LFM; install auxiliary fans if necessary. Regularly clean dust from heat sinks and fans.
Firmware/BIOS
After initial power-on, access the BIOS (via front-panel serial port or rear USB keyboard) to configure the clock, boot order, and PCI-VME bridging parameters.
Software Drivers
Install Xycom-provided VME-PCI drivers and corresponding network, storage, and audio drivers in the operating system.
Troubleshooting
- No Display/No Network: Check the stability of front-panel/rear connections for graphics and network cards; verify that corresponding functions are enabled in the BIOS.
