XYCOM XVME-113

The XVME‑113 is a VMEbus RAM/ROM memory module launched by XYCOM (now part of Acromag), compliant with the VMEbus IEEE 1014 C.1 standard. It functions as a slave memory bank or real-time clock (RTC)/configuration port, supporting multiple storage media (RAM, EPROM, FLASH, EEPROM) while offering 4 channels of BUS GRANT IN/OUT, IACK IN/OUT, and VME functions including RMW and UAT.

Installation and Maintenance Guidelines

Pre-Installation Preparation

• Verify that the chassis VME backplane complies with VMEbus C.1 specifications and has sufficient slot space reserved.
• Check that the power supply voltage is +5 V with a current margin of ≥ 0.2 A.
• If using the real-time clock function, install the 1.9 Ah battery first and verify the polarity.

Module Insertion/Removal

• Turn off the system power or switch to BUS GRANT IN disabled state to prevent bus conflicts.
• Align with the slot notch, press gently until the latch locks; use anti-static gloves during hot-swapping.

Jumper/Switch Configuration

• Refer to Sections 2.4-2.5 of the manual to set corresponding jumpers based on the required address range, extended/standard mode, and RTC enablement.
• After configuration, use a multimeter to check for jumper short circuits to avoid incorrect connections.

Initial Power-On Detection

• After power-on, read the module ID (0×74113) via the VMEbus to confirm the module is recognized by the system.
• Verify normal response of BUS GRANT and IACK signals.

Daily Maintenance

• Regularly check for loose jumper positions, especially in vibrating environments.
• Replace the RTC battery every 12 months to ensure clock accuracy.
• In case of read/write errors, first check power supply and grounding; reinsert and reconfigure jumpers if necessary.
